Giving enthusiasts of thriller and murder mysteries a new reason to be excited — a popular Korean writer-director duo have hinted at season 2 of the award-winning Kdrama Signal. Here’s everything we know so far.

Recently, popular playwright and screenwriter Kim Eun Hee — the name behind Revenant and Rebound — attended an event at the La Sapienza University in Rome along with B.A. Entertainment CEO Jang Won Seok. The subject of discussion was none other Korean content. A few other writers, producers, actors, and industry bigwigs were in attendance as well.

According to a report by Soompi, during this time the latter announced, “We are preparing Season 2 of the drama Signal together with writer Kim Eun Hee.” The two had earlier worked on Revenant together in 2023. The award-winning Kdrama Signal had bagged the Best Drama title at the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards and was hailed for its stellar cast and gripping storyline.

At the moment, there isn’t any information on what the plot of the second season is going to be.

In the first season, a police lieutenant and criminal profiler — whose complaint about his friend’s kidnapping and murder was not taken into account as a child — discovers a walkie talkie with a portal to the past. On the other side is an experienced detective. They work together to nab the culprit. This was based on a true story — alluding to a series of crimes in the Gyeonggi province, including the Park Chorong Bitnari kidnapping case and Hwasong murder case.

The cast of Signal 2 Kdrama

At the moment, there isn’t any information on the cast of the highly-anticipated Kdrama.

Season one was led by Taxi Driver and Where The Stars Land star Lee Je-hoon — who stepped into the shoes of criminal profiler and police lieutenant Park Hae-young. Kim Hye-soo — of Under the Queen’s Umbrella and Juvenile Justice fame — essayed the role of Cha Soo-hyun, the first woman police officer of the Special Task Force and the lead of the Seoul Cold Case squad. Meanwhile, Believer and A Hard Day’s Cho Jin-woong played the role of Lee Jae-han, a socially awkward but honest police officer from the past.
