The 2024 Royal Rumble winner will almost certainly be facing a numbers disadvantage, with Dakota Kai and women’s tag team champions Asuka and Kairi Sane likely to interfere on behalf of the champion.

The Role Model was not always supposed to go it alone, however.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that this particular storyline was cultivated months ago and at one point, included Charlotte Flair backing up her fellow Four Horsewoman.

He also addressed rumors that Sasha Banks (AEW’s Mercedes Mone) would join the company and support Bayley, writing, “One source in WWE said that Mercedes signing with WWE when they had talks definitely could have changed things, but that wasn’t the working plan and things didn’t get far enough for advanced creative pitches.”

For the sake of the story, and in recognition of Bayley’s deserved moment in the spotlight, it is best that no one interferes.

Triple H said himself at the Royal Rumble press conference that Bayley often got overlooked or shoved to the side in favor of Flair, Banks, and Becky Lynch when the Four Horsewomen were called up to the main roster. She has been underappreciated and underrepresented during her time in the company, often the bridesmaid but never the bride.

That changes at WrestleMania when she challenges Sky for championship gold, something she has not held since 2020.

Her big moment and presumed win should be about her. She should not have to share the spotlight with a Superstar or Superstars who have come to her aid to make the win possible.

Sunday should be all about Bayley and paying off her journey to the title.
