Australia’s Richest Woman: Canberra, during the exhibition in Australia’s National Art Gallery(NAG) by famous artist Namatjira, the world’s renowned portrait was exhibited- Australia’s Richest Woman Rina Ginehart. The portrait was put in the museum in March 2024. Rina Ginehart was dismayed to see her portrait in NAG of Australia. According to her, her portrait was so bad. She is continuously appealing to remove that portrait from the museum. The portrait was painted by Australia’s famous artist Vincent Namatjira- an artists who is known for portraiting the world’s richest persons.
For the first time in his profession, someone should be on his work and ask for the removal. Rina Ginehart tried to contact the official authorities of the museum to remove the portrait. However according to resources, Australia’s National Association of Arts (NAVA) has announced support for the artist Namatjira.

Penelope Benton- The executive director of NAVA has said: “While Rinehart has the right to express her opinions about the work, she does not have the authority to pressure the gallery into withdrawing the painting simply because she dislikes it.” They further said: “sets a dangerous precedent for censorship and the stifling of creative expression.”

“I paint the world as I see it,” he said. “People don’t have to like my paintings, but I hope they take the time to look and think, ‘why has this Aboriginal bloke painted these powerful people? What is he trying to say?’”
He further stated that: “Some people might not like it, other people might find it funny but I hope people look beneath the surface and see the serious side too,”

“welcomes the public having a dialogue on our collection and displays.”
“Since 1973, when the National Gallery acquired Jackson Pollocks’ Blue Poles, there has been a dynamic discussion on the artistic merits of works in the national collection, and/or on display at the Gallery,” the NGA statement continued. “We present works of art to the Australian public to inspire people to explore, experience and learn about art.”
