How do you celebrate Eid Ul Fitr?
The day starts with Eid prayers prayed in congregation in mosques. When the Shi’a community performs their Eid prayers, they repeat this specific invocation several times during qunut. It sets out what they see as their spiritual focus on the day of Eid and beyond.
O Allah! Thine is the Glory and Eminence, and
Thine is the Benevolence and Omnipotence, and
Thine is the Pardon and Forbearance, and
Thine is the Shelter and Forgiveness
I ask Thee by this profound day as You had honored it for the Muslims to celebrate, and
Made it for Muhammad as a tribute unsurpassed,
That You bless Muhammad and his Family, and
Place me in every good You had put Muhammad and his Family, and
Keep me out of every evil of which You have kept away from Muhammad and his Family, upon them may be Thy blessings
O Allah! I seek from Thee the good that Thy sincere servants seek
And I seek Thy protection against all from which Thy righteous servants have asked Thy protection.
What are some Eid traditions in your country?
By Eid tradition I am going to explain Eid ul Adha since Eid al-Adha is coming which is on Wednesday 22nd August 2018 in Pakistan.
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorates the Quranic tale of the Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah, before Allah replaced the son with a ram to be sacrificed instead. A similar story involving Abraham is recounted in the holy books of Judaism and Christianity. It is tradition for those who can afford it to sacrifice domestic animals as a symbol of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his only son.
Before Eid al-Adha people goes to animal market to buy sacrificial animal( camel, cow, goat or sheep).
Muslims in Pakistan congregate at the mosques or Eidgahs and offer prayers; On the way they pass out the obligatory alms called fitra. When Eid prayers and Thanksgivings are over, they hug and congratulate each other and later during the day, they visit relatives, friends, and neighbors. They sacrifice goats and cows for Eid al-Adha marking the second major religious festival of Islam. Also as an additional treat, a variety of dishes are cooked especially at night people do BBQ party.
We present sacrifices to follow the path of the prophet Abraham. We should not forget our poor and needy Muslim brethren on this occasion.
