Accident Ahead Alert: What Is It?
The Swedish automaker created the safety function known as Accident Ahead Alert, which warns the driver of an approaching traffic collision ahead of them. This function helps drivers prevent more collisions and traffic jams caused by accidents. This gives drivers more power and increases everyone’s safety on the roadways.
“Our Accident Ahead Alert can help Volvo drivers avoid unpleasant surprises while contributing to making roads safer for everyone, thanks to our ground-breaking connected safety technology,” stated Ã…sa Haglund, head of Volvo Cars Safety Center.
What makes Accident Ahead Alert unique?
The ability of the recently added capability to give drivers direct access to real-time accident updates is what makes it unique. Volvo vehicles can alert drivers in advance of traffic accidents that are happening a few hundred meters away from them by using data from a traffic management center. This allows drivers ample time to take appropriate action and continue driving safely.
As the first automaker to use our new real-time traffic event data feed, we’re glad that Volvo Cars is doing so, says Stine Bendsen, head of the Danish Road Directorate’s Danish Traffic Management Center.
“A prompt notification of an impending collision allows the driver additional time to reduce speed and widen the gap with the leading vehicle. This lessens the possibility of subsequent crashes and safeguards those attempting to clear the roadway,” she continued.
