What is the meaning of bhai dooj rhym?

In West Bengal, this is called Bhai Phonta, which is similar to Bhai Dhooj in northern India. This is celebrated two days after the Kali Puja, where the sisters mark the foreheads of their brothers with sandalwood paste<, i.e., Phota> and pray for their safety, well-being, and success.

The rhyme in Bengali:-

“Bhaier kapale dilam phonta,
Jamer Duare porlo kanta,
Jamuna Dae Jomke phonta,
Ami di amar bhaike phonta.”

Translation in English:-

I put a “phota” on my brother’s fore-head,
To make my brother immortal
“Yamuna” gives a “phota” to “Yam”,
I give a “phota” to my brother.

After that if sister is elder than her brother then sister puts paddy grains and durba(one type of grass) on brother’s head and blesses him and if brother is elder then he puts that on sister’s head and blesses her.Then they give gifts to each other and the sister hands her brother a dish of traditional Bengali sweets.
