Lok Sabha Election 2024: The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Lok Sabha polls, the world’s largest electoral exercise, are set to unfold in seven stages over 44 days, starting on April 19.
The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pursuing a third consecutive term, which will help him equal the record of first PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

India General Elections 2024 Live: Voting for Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha elections, which spans 96 constituencies across 10 states/UT, started at 7 am. The polling will wrap up at 6 pm. As per the Election Commission of India, a total of 4,264 nominations were submitted for the 96 parliamentary constituencies, leaving in 1,717 final candidates in the fray. Telangana saw the highest number of nominations at 1,488, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 1,103 nominations across 25 constituencies.

• Hyderabad: Battle between BJP’s Madhavi Latha and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi; Owaisi seeks fifth term, Latha confident about BJP’s support.
• Krishnanagar: TMC’s Mahua Moitra against BJP’s Amrita Roy; Moitra won previously, BJP aims for victory.
• Begusarai: BJP’s Giriraj Singh faces CPI’s Awadhesh Rai; Singh boasts NDA’s unity and Modi’s leadership.
• Munger: JD(U)’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh vs RJD’s Anita Devi; Singh won comfortably in 2019, Devi aims for OBC, EBC, and Muslim votes.

Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 4 Live Updates: The approximate voter turnout data till 5 pm was recorded at 62.31 percent in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha election underway in 96 constituencies across nine states and a Union Territory (Jammu and Kashmir). Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are also holding elections for their state Assemblies simultaneously. Meanwhile, a day ahead of filing his nomination papers from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in the city this evening. He is accompanied by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Where are people voting? Polling is being held on all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, all 25 in Andhra Pradesh, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, five in Bihar, four in Jharkhand, eight in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, four in Odisha, eight in West Bengal and one in J-K (Srinagar LS constituency). 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh are also going to polls, where a triangular contest involving ruling YSRCP, the Congress-led INDIA bloc, and the NDA, comprising the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP, and Pawan Kalyan-led JSP is on the cards. Additionally, 28 assembly seats of Odisha are also going to polls in this phase.
A look at 2019 Lok Sabha polls: In 2019, the parties constituting the Opposition INDIA bloc and the ruling NDA had respectively won 11 and 47 of the 96 Lok Sabha seats going to polls today. The BJP clinched 42 of these seats, with the Congress far behind at six.
