Should you be outside during a solar eclipse? People who walk outside during solar eclipses are sucked up by their feet to hang from the sun for eternity. This is called a ‘hotfoot’. I hear it’s unpleasant. Seriously, it is as safe to walk outside during a solar eclipse as it is any other time. It usually depends on the neighborhood.

Should you be outside during a solar eclipse?
There is little to notice during a partial eclipse, but starting about two minutes before totality the light quality gets a weird shade of grayish purple, daytime birds and insects fall silent, and I’ve seen cows head back to their barn despite the time being 11:30 am. As darkness falls night birds and insects awaken and nature’s sounds resume. No total eclipse lasts more than seven minutes. As the Sun returns night birds and insects fall silent, and a couple of minutes later the daytime’s wildlife resumes its songs. Cattle look confused but after a brief pause return to the fields. A dog taken to two eclipses acted terrified at first, whimpering and hiding under its owner’s vehicle. At the second eclipse, it was an absolute pest trying to play with everyone.
Humans vary. I’ve heard of idiots who lock their doors, draw curtains, and huddle inside praying. Others (like me) will travel thousands of miles to see an eclipse. I’ve seen them from two locations in Canada, two in the USA (Maine and North Carolina), Siberia, etc. One of my former students has seen dozens, but he worked for decades as NASA’s expert on eclipses.
Will the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, be a sign of the end times?
Of course not the Eclipse that was the sign of the end of times was in August of 2017. The April 8 2024 eclipse is just the sign that the Age of Aquarius has begun, Jupiter will align with marsh and peace will guide the planets.
Do eclipses have an effect on humans?
Can you go outside without staring at the sun during the solar eclipse?
If you’re not planning to observe a solar eclipse, you can go about your normal activities just as if it were an ordinary day. Observing the Sun always requires suitable equipment and the training to use that equipment properly; this is the case whether there’s an eclipse or not.
If you’d like to see a solar eclipse and haven’t had the opportunity to get solar observing equipment, I suggest you make a pin-hole projector. It’s very simple.
- Get a piece of cardboard and put a small hole in it, about the diameter of the wire in a paper clip.
- Hold the cardboard so that the sunlight shines through the hole and projects an image onto another piece of cardboard. Be sure you don’t look directly at the Sun.
Is it safe to put pickles outside in the sun during a solar eclipse?
Yes, it is safe.
According to Hindu mythology, the solar eclipse is the time when two serpent demons — Rahu and Ketu — are trying to eat up the Sun, in order to stifle all life on Earth.
It is absolutely safe to eat, drink and travel during Solar eclipse. The only thing one can do is to put some Holi Basil (Tulsi) leaves in your food products like Milk, curd, Pickles, Cooked food etc.
Rest, you can do whatever you do in other days.
Is a solar eclipse harmful?
This picture is of the most famous moment during a solar eclipse; the aptly named Diamond Ring Effect. At this point, the moon has a little distance to go before covering the entire sun, or has just started to move away from totality.
It happens because sunlight seeps through the uneven lunar surface features such as valleys, and is considered the most beautiful feature of the entire eclipse.
This is also the most dangerous occurrence. The light is so bright because the seeping through of it is similar to using a magnifying glass to focus the sun’s rays; viewing it without eye protection will burn the sensitive retina of the eyes, similar to how paper is burnt by the focused sunlight via the magnifying glass.
Hence, only indirect viewing of this event should be done, like projecting the light onto a screen using a telescope, or with specially designed filter eye wear.
The rest of you will tolerate the entire sequence of the eclipse, so nothing to worry about there.
PS: If someone talks about bad rays and energies coming out of the eclipse, please ask them to specify the details of their nature, intensity, method of measure, influence, etc. of the claimed energy. Ignore the astrologers’ unscientific, unproven explanations and scaremongering, and enjoy the show.

Do I need to wear solar eyeglasses during the solar eclipse?
You need eye protection if you look at the sun (or near) when it’s partially eclipsed, especially if it’s more than 50% covered. If you’re just walking around looking where you’re going (and not headed toward the sun!) it’s no problem.
The danger is that humans have a natural aversion to staring at lights as bright as the sun, but that’s based on the total brightness and might not work if most of the sun is covered up. But bit of sun that’s still visible can do damage just as fast as the full sun, it just burns up a smaller part of your retina.
What will happen if we step outside during a solar eclipse?
If you are not in the path of totality, the Sun will appear to have a bite taken out of it. But the difference in light is almost imperceptible.
In the path is a different story. As the Moon fully covers the Sun, the sky will grow dark, the stars will come out, there will be a big temperature drop, and the Sun’s corona is visible. There is also a 360-degree sunset effect.
